In today’s rapidly evolving digital world, access to technology and the skills needed to navigate it are essential for success. From education and employment to healthcare and staying connected with loved ones, reliable access to the internet and digital literacy are critical for people of all ages.
In Boulder County, Sister Carmen Community Center is addressing this need through an innovative program helping community members get the skills, resources and confidence they need to thrive in an increasingly digital landscape.
Sister Carmen’s Bridging Digital Divides program provides basic digital skills training and one-on-one digital navigator support for community members. Whether it’s applying for jobs, attending work or school virtually, or using telehealth services, Sister Carmen’s Bridging Digital Divides program is transforming lives by removing digital barriers and empowering participants. In less than one year, Bridging Digital Divides hosted 29 eight-week Digital Skills series and helped more than 430 participants.
Digital navigator programs, which help connect more people and teach essential digital skills, are crucial for closing the digital divide. Through Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion commitment to advancing digital opportunity, we are expanding a network of digital navigator programs, like Sister Carmen’s Bridging Digital Divides class, nationwide.
