New DOCSIS 4.0 deployment provides access to 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1Gbps and 2Gbps upload and download speeds.

Think you still have to imagine streaming your favorite sports without waiting for it to load first? Or wait for your kids to stop playing their video game so you can do an important work video conference? Guess what – you won’t have to wait any longer. With an average of 27 connected devices per home, Comcast knows people are consuming and sending more data over broadband than ever before. And Comcast is now able to offer multigigabit upload AND download speeds so you can connect more and stream faster through existing connections – without tearing up yards and roads.

This week, select residents in Colorado Springs will become the first in the world to take advantage of this remarkable next-generation Internet powered by Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 4.0 technology.

This technology is a giant leap forward in connectivity, providing access to 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1Gbps and 2Gbps upload AND download speeds, along with low lag for the ultimate live sports streaming experience, smooth connections on work calls and ultra-responsive gaming.

“The enhancements we have been making to our network over the past few years are foundational to creating an award-winning network that is fully virtualized and capable of delivering these exciting capabilities to our customers,” said Elad Nafshi, Chief Network Officer, Comcast Cable. “This is an awesome achievement and I’m incredibly proud of the team of brilliant technologists here at Comcast who worked relentlessly to make DOCSIS 4.0 a reality ahead of schedule.”

Faster internet speed is just one of the benefits made possible through Comcast’s ongoing efforts to evolve its entire network to 10G. Comcast offers residential customers more options than anyone else to choose the speeds that meet their household needs for costs as low as $9.95 (or free with Affordable Connectivity Program) for its Internet Essentials program for income-qualified households.

Comcast is already the largest provider of gigabit-plus Internet speeds in the country and was the first to deliver gigabit speeds over its entire network. Comcast has invested more than $30 billion in its network nationally in the last decade to support these innovations, and $1.2 billion in Colorado alone in the last three years. The investments in communities across the country will allow Comcast to break new ground and continue to deliver unbeatable internet service in the years to come.
