With a career in politics in her sights, Alicia Barron is working hard in school despite the challenges COVID-19 presents. As a student at Colorado State University, she is attending hybrid classes and getting tested for COVID regularly.
While it isn’t the normal college experience, she said it’s going okay. When COVID hit back in March, Barron was a senior at Vista Peak Prep in Aurora. She was grateful to have low-cost, reliable, high–speed internet through Internet Essentials from Comcast.
Internet Essentials definitely helped me to stay connected and get more information about what I want to do in the future,” Barron said.
Barron’s family is also thankful for the high-speed internet connection and devices they got through Internet Essentials. “The internet has been really helpful for [my mom]. She has been able to navigate her way through.”
Comcast has connected more than 300,000 low-income Coloradans to the internet at home through Internet Essentials since launching the program in 2011; and since COVID-19, Comcast has connected thousands more students and families to the power of the internet at home.
Families and students who are eligible for public assistance programs such as the National School Lunch Program, Housing Assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, and others can sign up for Internet Essentials from Comcast and get high-speed internet for $9.95 a month as well as computers at a discounted price. Additionally, families who sign up by June 30, 2021 will recieve free Internet service for the first 60 days.
