Denver Startup Week 2017 is officially over, and we’re eager to see what new innovations, business partnerships and plans will develop from the connections made and lessons learned during the week.
With 350 events and more than 18,000 registered attendees, Denver Startup Week continues to grow its scope and impact year over year. Comcast is proud to support and be a part of what is the largest free entrepreneurial event in North America bringing innovators, founders, developers, designers, makers and organizations together to share ideas and connect.
Throughout the week, downtown Denver office buildings, breweries, coffee shops and co-working spaces buzzed as entrepreneurs discussed everything from new product ideas to new ways to have a social impact on the community and much more.
Comcast leaders and employees also gathered downtown to lend their expertise and network with this year’s attendees.
During a Monday afternoon panel with the University of Colorado Denver, Matt McConnell, the senior vice president of Comcast Technology Solutions, explained how private ventures can partner with public institutions and universities to create a confluence of intellectual and creative expertise.
Tom Wlodkowski, the vice president of accessibility at Comcast NBCUniversal, flew in from Philadelphia to speak on a panel with local innovators about how to launch startups within a larger organization and how to encourage all employees to think outside of the box. While Tom was in town he also spoke with the #DSWLive team about Comcast’s commitment to Denver Startup Week, as well as spoke to the quasi-startup he runs within Comcast developing accessibility features for our customers. You can watch the full interview here.
At an “unofficial” happy hour, Tiffany Payne, the Comcast West Division vice president of community investment, highlighted the importance of supporting diversity and women in entrepreneurship.
Comcast was thrilled to be a part of the entire week. As a company, Comcast drives innovation to create the best in in entertainment and online experiences, and we hope every business calling Denver home continues to feed the thriving entrepreneurial spirit throughout the entire year.
