Comcast and YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region Open Connection Center

Comcast Colorado and YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region announced the opening of the new YMCA Comcast Connection Center, located at the Southeast Armed Services YMCA. The YMCA’s Comcast Connection Center, powered by Comcast’s Lift Zone program, will offer the local community free WiFi and a variety of services and technology-building skills classes and resources.

Comcast also provided a grant to the YMCA to help secure new technology tools, including a new Eyeclick interactive projector, which is tailored for recreation and education for people experiencing mobility issues, disabilities, and cognitive development.

“The Y’s 146-year commitment to serving the ever-changing needs in the region continues to evolve. The YMCA Comcast Connection Center is an example of meeting some of today’s needs, offering an opportunity to close the existing digital divide with individuals of all ages throughout the community,” said Boyd Williams, President & COO for the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. “With the support from Comcast, the Y will be able to help bridge the digital gap that many in our Southeast Community experience.”

The Connection Center will offer courses for every age and level of ability. Classes include cyber math, basic coding, and programming, along with tutor programs to help in English, math, and science; community members will be able to learn graphic design, podcasting, e-commerce, and cyber security.

Comcast has established over 100 Wi-Fi connected Lift Zones across Colorado including 16 in Colorado Springs. By collaborating with our network of nonprofit, community, and city partners, we provide reliable Wi-Fi access (powered by Comcast Business) for people to connect online, engage in workforce development training, access essential resources, and so much more.
