Over the past three years, Comcast contributed more than $37.6 million in cash and in-kind contributions to nonprofit partners in Colorado, including Easterseals and Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado. These investments enable local organizations to expand their reach and impact, providing essential services to those in need.
Significant Investments in Local Communities
In today’s world, corporate giving plays a crucial role in empowering local nonprofits and enabling them to achieve their missions. Companies like Comcast are at the forefront of this movement, making significant contributions that drive lasting positive impact in our communities.
According to studies compiled by the National Philanthropic Trust, corporate giving in the U.S. increased by 3.0% in 2023, reaching an impressive total of $36.55 billion. This increase provides nonprofits with more stable and predictable funding, allowing them to better serve their local communities and address urgent needs.
Project UP: Bridging the Digital Divide
One of Comcast’s flagship initiatives, Project UP, exemplifies its commitment to community support. With a staggering $1 billion investment, Project UP aims to close the digital divide and foster economic mobility. By connecting people to the Internet and creating opportunities for the next generation, Comcast is making strides in ensuring that everyone has access to the digital tools necessary for success.
Comcast’s Project UP supports organizations providing digital skills training. This initiative helps learners at all levels to succeed in an increasingly digital world, breaking down barriers to education and employment.
Lift Zones: Free Internet Access for Communities
Comcast also has established over 1,250 Lift Zones across the country. These zones offer free WiFi access and essential digital services in community centers and recreation facilities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to stay connected.
Comcast supports 108 Lift Zones in Colorado, further extending its commitment to digital inclusion. This year, Comcast provided support to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County to help with the opening of their new teen center in Greeley. As part of our Project UP initiative, the center is now a WiFi-connected Lift Zone, providing free internet access and digital skills learning opportunities.
Investing in Future Entrepreneurs
This year, Comcast awarded 100 businesses in Southern Colorado with comprehensive grant packages through our Comcast RISE program, including business consultation services, educational resources, a $5,000 monetary grant, and more. The recipients are among more than 14,000 entrepreneurs nationwide, selected through the Comcast RISE program to date.
Community Partnerships for Greater Impact
Collaboration is key to making a lasting impact. The partnerships we have in Colorado amplify the positive effects of corporate giving, creating ripple effects that benefit entire communities.
Through these initiatives, Comcast demonstrates the profound impact corporate giving can have. By investing in local nonprofits, fostering digital inclusion, and supporting small businesses, Comcast is improving lives today and laying the groundwork for a more equitable and connected future.
