Crafting, Cable, Pac Man and Mind Reading…LIFT Labs Startup Accelerator Can Help Launch Your Big Idea – Apply Now

In 2010, a quilt from an aunt sparked an idea for four entrepreneurs who saw a void in online education. With the help, advice and financing from other innovators, makers, investors, and many other people along the way, they created a successful lifestyle learning digital platform where anyone can craft like a pro. This startup is Denver-based, Bluprint (formerly Craftsy), which is now part of the Comcast NBCUniversal family.

The entrepreneurial spirit is essential to growing the Colorado economy, and we understand there are many different pathways to launching a successful and thriving business.

In fact, Comcast began as a startup more than 50 years ago when the company was founded by Ralph Roberts in Tupelo, MS with the simple purpose of connecting more people through TV programming. From this beginning, we know from experience how entrepreneurialism is a catalyst for driving growth, innovation, and the Colorado economy. In the spirit of Ralph Roberts, Comcast launched a startup accelerator program to fuel and grow the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The startup accelerator is part of Comcast NBCUniversal’s LIFT Labs for Entrepreneurs, which is powered by Colorado-based Techstars.  The accelerator is a collection of programs offering talented entrepreneurs access to Comcast NBCUniversal’s renowned network of partners, brands, and mentors to foster rapid breakthroughs in connectivity, media, and entertainment.

Imagine hosting a Throwback Thursday video game party with Polycade, a new connected 21st Century arcade console growing into the largest out-of-home gaming platform. As a business person, do you ever think how great it would be to reach your audience at the right place at the right time?  Trapica is leveraging artificial intelligence to help marketers do just that.

These are a couple of the most recent startups to launch from the 2018 accelerator.

This year, Comcast NBCUniversal and Techstars is selecting up to 12 startups throughout the country to participate in an immersive 13-week program which will position the companies for possible partnerships with Comcast NBCUniversal’s partners and brands.

Startups will partner with mentors and teams at the new Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia. They will also participate in custom workshops, training sessions, and business meetings unique to the company and its LIFT Labs program. The accelerator will culminate with a “Demo Day” in October, where the companies will pitch their businesses to hundreds of investors, mentors, Comcast NBCUniversal leaders, and members of the tech and startup community. In addition, each company will have access to the workspace at LIFT Labs in Philadelphia until June 2020.
