Recognizing the Best and Brightest High School Seniors in Colorado

Comcast NBCUniversal awarded $73,000 in scholarships for the 2018-19 school year to 55 Colorado students as part of its annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. The program, funded by the Comcast Foundation, recognizes the best and brightest high school seniors for their community service, academic performance and leadership skills.

“Our Leaders and Achievers Scholarship winners have already shown exceptional leadership skills in their academic achievements, as well as through their community work,” said Rich Jennings, Senior Vice President of the Mountain West Region. “We are honored to support them on their educational journeys and look forward to seeing even more great accomplishments from them as they grow into the innovators and entrepreneurs of the future.”

This year, 53 students will each receive $1,000 scholarships. Two students, Joanna Cotto, a resident of Denver and a student at Colorado Academy Upper School, and Connor Hansen, a resident of Longmont and student at Silver Creek High School, each will receive Comcast Founders Scholarship awards of $10,000. These two scholarships were instituted in honor of Ralph J. Roberts, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Comcast Corporation.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be highlighting the scholarship recipients who have already shown remarkable leadership experience both in and out of the classroom on our social media channels (Twitter: @ComcastColo & Facebook: @Comcast). Stay tuned to learn more about the students!

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students who strive to achieve their full potential, who are catalysts for positive change in their communities, who are involved in their schools, and who serve as models for their fellow students. The philosophy behind the program is to give young people every opportunity to prepare for the future and to engage them in their communities. The program also demonstrates the importance of civic involvement, and the value placed on civic involvement by the business community.
